Besides complete lines for short and long fibre processing, Van Dommele also builds installations for the cleaning of the core (also known as shives, shiv, wood or hurd). Frequently applied machines are:

Duvex
A Duvex is a cylindrical sieve in which a drum turns at high speed. The drum is equipped with paddles, mounted in helicoïdal way. These paddles rub the material against the sieve and make small particles (dust, small fibres, small core) fall through the sieve. Depending on the sieve that is applied different sizes of core can be separated. Equipped with bars in stead of sieves the Duvex can be used as tow or fibre cleaning machine.

Sorting drums
The sorting drum is used to separate different size materials. The cylindrical drum is composed of perforated plates. The perforations applied, depend on the application. The material is entered on one side in the turning drum. The drum is equipped with blades on the interior constantly turning the material. Because of the slight slope the machine is put under, the material slowly moves forward towards the end of the sieve. The small particles fall through the perforations in the drum and are exported with a screw conveyor under the drum. The bigger particles remain in the drum and are brought towards the exit.

Shakers
The shaker is designed to separate the different by-products of flax such as rippling waste, sand, roots and/or seed. It can also be used to separate other mixed materials with different size of grain.
At the entry of the machine, the material is thrown on the upper sieve. The sieves are assembled in a frame that shakes. Because of the vibrations, the material goes down over the sieves and the small fraction falls through the perforated sieves. Depending on the number of sieves, the material can be separated in 2 or 3 fractions. At the end of the upper sieve, a comb can be installed to separate fibrous material (like rippling waste) and stones.

Bagging presses
With a fully automatic or a semi automatic bagging press it is possible to put clean core or shives in plastic bags. Depending on market demands different bag sizes can be produced on one and the same machine.
The automatic press takes the foil from a continuous roll and makes a bag. The bags are placed on a palet with a robot and finally the complete palet is wrapped.
A semi automatic press requires an operator to place a bag over the exit of the press and to close the bag once it is full. The operator finally places the bags on a palet. Depending on the required capacity extra operators can be necessary.

Buffer silo and bulk storage
A silo is applied to temporarily store clean core before further processing or baling. Next to putting the core in plastic bags it is also possible to transport the core in bulk. In that case a filling station with screw conveyors can be used to put the core into containers. In some cases it is also possible to blow the core directly into containers under high pressure.
